Most of us think that all baby boy bedding materials are alike. Truth is, not all baby boy bedding sets are created equal. Bedding, the part of the bed that covers the foam for an extra comfy sleep, can be made of a variety of materials. It could be silk, wool, polyester, and could be filled with cotton, wool, or down. Let’s take a look at their pros and cons, shall we?

First up is wool. Wool is generally the most widely accepted material. It keeps the us fairly warm, is not prone to bacteria when treated with lanolin, and lastly, it’s water and odor resistant. Wool can be a bit more expensive than most materials though. Cotton on the other hand is cheaper, doesn’t cause allergic reactions to most people, not as warm as wool(good for people in tropical countries), and can last long with proper care. Down, made from bird’s feathers, is by far the best insulator when dry, when it’s wet, it becomes a poor insulator. Lastly silk is really comfortable in warm weather, but cannot keep you as warm in cold seasons as its counter-parts can.

When choosing your baby boy bedding, remember that it is not only for the crib, it is for a bit long-term. A well-kept bedding can last up to three years. You can even place them on your children’s bunk beds when they grow out of a crib. Also, even after it’s no longer that sanitary to keep using it, you can turn a silk, wool, or cotton, bedding into a wet rag for cleaning the house with.

The best material for your bedding is dependent on the you, the user. Take note of your climate, your allergies, and you budget as well. Knowing the pros and cons of the materials, you can now make a better decision as to which bedding is best for you. Good luck in choosing the right one.
